FIELD MANUAL

Scout Pilot Handbook

Everything you need to know about tracking your Metalstorm combat stats. From installation to advanced features — this is your single reference.

What is Scout?

Your automated combat telemetry system for Metalstorm.

Metalstorm Scout is a free Chrome extension that automatically captures your combat statistics from playmetalstorm.com. It tracks trophies, matches, wins, aircraft performance, and seasonal rankings — all without requiring any manual input.

Think of it as a flight recorder for your PvP career. Every time you visit your stats page, Scout takes a snapshot and builds your combat history over time.

Not affiliated with Starform Inc. Scout captures data from your own authenticated session when you visit your stats page.

Getting Started

Three steps to establish your telemetry link.

1

Install the Extension

Add Metalstorm Scout to your browser from the Chrome Web Store. It works on any Chromium-based browser — Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera. It's free, lightweight, and only activates on playmetalstorm.com.

2

Collect Your Free Daily Reward

Log in to playmetalstorm.com and collect your Free Daily Reward from the Shop page. Scout automatically detects your profile and captures your first snapshot in the background — no extra steps needed.

3

Open Your Dashboard

Visit metalstormscout.com — you'll be automatically redirected to your personal combat telemetry dashboard.

Tactical DM System

Send secure messages to any pilot directly from their passport.

How to Send a Message

  1. Visit any pilot's Passport page (e.g. /p/callsign)
  2. Look for the SEND MESSAGE badge below their name
  3. Click it to open a conversation and start typing

If the badge isn't visible, the pilot has disabled incoming messages.

Trust Gate

Messaging requires Field Agent clearance (Tier 2). This prevents spam by ensuring only pilots with consistent data flow can send messages. Sync your stats daily — 4 out of 7 days — to reach Tier 2.

Preferences

Control who can message you from Settings → Comms Control → Accept Direct Messages. Toggle it off to disable incoming DMs entirely.

Safety

  • First message to a new contact is limited to 200 characters
  • Rate limit: 10 messages/hour, 30/day
  • You can block any pilot to permanently stop communication

Clearance Protocol

Access tiers based on signal consistency. No subscription — just fly regularly.

Scout rewards consistent data transmission. The more regularly you visit your stats page, the higher your clearance level — unlocking advanced features. This isn't a paywall. It's a signal quality gate that ensures the data powering leaderboards and analytics is accurate and reliable.

Season Anatomy

Understanding the 28-day PvP season cycle.

±2 DAY BOUNDARY
MID-SEASON — 4/7 ROLLING SIGNAL
±2 DAY BOUNDARY
DAY 1 (RESET)DAY 14DAY 28 (RESET)
Boundary Window — At least 1 snapshot within ±2 days of a season reset. Ensures we capture your starting and ending positions accurately.
Mid-Season Signal — Visit your stats page at least 4 days out of every 7. This gives Scout enough data points to calculate accurate trends and momentum.
Gate — Minimum 25 matches and 250 trophies in the current season. Ensures only actively competing pilots appear in global rankings.

The Reset Window

The most important 48 hours for your Scout data.

Scout builds your entire trophy timeline by comparing snapshots over time. It knows your current trophies, and works backward using every recorded change to reconstruct where you were on any given day. This works perfectly — as long as every change is recorded.

A season reset is the biggest single change in your trophy history — often thousands of trophies in an instant. If Scout captures a snapshot before the reset (your closing position) and after the reset (your opening position), it can separate the reset from your normal gameplay perfectly. But if either snapshot is missing, something breaks.

Complete Data

Day 27: You collect your daily reward → Scout records 53,000 total trophies.

Day 1 (new season): You collect your reward again → Scout records 49,200 trophies.

✓ Scout knows exactly: closing at 53K, opening at 49.2K → a 3,800 trophy reset. Your Season Recap, Ace Coin estimate, and rankings are all accurate.

Missing Closing Snapshot

Day 22: Last snapshot → Scout recorded 51,400 trophies.

Day 27–28: No visit. You keep playing, push to 53,000, then the reset hits.

Day 2 (new season): You visit → Scout sees 49,200 trophies.

⚠ Scout sees a drop from 51,400 to 49,200 but doesn't know your actual closing was 53,000. Those 1,600 trophies you earned in the last 5 days? Invisible. Your Season Recap underestimates your peak.

Missing Both Snapshots

Day 20: Last snapshot → 50,800 trophies.

Day 28 → Day 5: No visit for over a week. Reset happens, you also play several matches.

Day 5: You return → Scout sees 49,800 trophies.

✗ Scout sees a 1,000 trophy drop over 15 days. Was it the reset? Match losses? New trophies earned post-reset? It can't tell. Your entire timeline shifts, and the Season Recap for this period cannot be generated.

The takeaway: Collect your Free Daily Reward at least once in the last two days of the season and once in the first two days of the new season. That's all it takes — two visits around reset day — and Scout handles the rest.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions from the pilot community.

Is Scout free?
Yes, completely free. No subscription, no premium tier, no ads. The clearance system is based on data consistency, not payment.
What data does the extension collect?
When you visit your stats page at playmetalstorm.com, Scout reads the data displayed in your own authenticated session — trophies, matches, wins, aircraft data. It never accesses your login credentials, email, or any private information.
Is this safe to use? Will I get banned?
Scout only reads the stats you already see on your own playmetalstorm.com profile. It does not modify any game files, inject code into the game, or interact with game servers. It's a read-only extension that works entirely within your browser.
How often should I send snapshots?
Just collect your Free Daily Reward at playmetalstorm.com — that's it. The reward resets twice a day (roughly every 12 hours), and every time you visit the page to claim it, Scout automatically captures a fresh snapshot in the background. So by simply collecting your daily rewards — something you'd do anyway — you keep your Scout data current, maintain your signal streak, and maximize your in-game earnings. No extra effort required.
Why can't I see the Leaderboard?
Leaderboard requires Operator clearance (Tier 3). You need consistent snapshots including season boundary days, plus a minimum of 25 matches and 250 trophies in the current season.
What happens during a season reset?
PvP seasons last approximately 28 days. At the end of each season, trophy resets apply per aircraft (rules updated by the July 15, 2026 game patch): 0–700 trophies → unchanged; 701–1050 → lose up to 50 (floor of 700); above 1050 → reset to 1000 regardless of amount. Lost trophies convert to Ace Coins — up to 50 for the mid bracket, and a scaling bonus up to 100 for aircraft above 1050 (Scout estimates 1 per 16 trophies over 1050 until the exact rate is published). See the Reset Window section above for why this moment is critical for your Scout data.
Can I use Scout on mobile?
Scout currently works on desktop and laptop browsers only — any Chromium-based browser (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera) is supported. A mobile version hasn't been developed yet as there hasn't been enough demand for it. If mobile support is something you'd like to see — or if you have any other feature suggestions — we'd love to hear from you. Use the Field Intel form below to send us your feedback.
Who can see my stats?
Your dashboard data is only visible to you. If you share your Pilot Passport link, some core stats (matches, win rate, trophies) are always visible, but you control everything else — you can toggle individual widgets on or off from the Passport Editor in Settings. No one can look you up unless you share your link. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
How do I send a message to another pilot?
Visit their Passport page and click the SEND MESSAGE badge. You need Field Agent clearance (Tier 2) to send messages — sync your stats daily to unlock it. You can manage your DM preferences in Settings → Comms Control.
What if I stop playing for a while?
Your data is safe — nothing gets deleted. When you come back, just visit your stats page and Scout picks up right where you left off. The only thing you'll miss is the daily data points during your absence, meaning your timeline will have a gap for that period. But everything before and after stays accurate.
How do I delete my data?
Go to Settings → Account → Ghost Protocol. Follow the steps to permanently delete all your data. The process is self-service; no need to email us. If you have multiple linked accounts, repeat the process for each one. For more details, see the Your Data & Privacy section above.
